Google News Leaves Beta
January 24th, 2006, 11:27am CST AWS RSS Feed View This Article In PDF Format.

After three years and four months, Google News is finally out of beta. Google gathers stories from more than 4,500 english news sources and clusters them together showing related and relavant articles which are updated every 15 mins.

For those of you unfamiliar with Google News, some of its other features include:

Feeds: With Google News you can receive updates of various sections of news search results by subscribing to RSS or Atom feed.

Personalized News: Personalized news, allows you to build and share your own version of Google News by rearranging the sections on the Google News front page, or even creating new ones. You can also get recommended headlines based on what news stories you've searched for and clicked on in the past. And, since Google News is part of Personalized Search, you can view and manage your history of past searches and news selections.

Trace story history: You can trace the history of a topic or monitor an emerging story by clicking the "sort by date" option in your search results.

Country-specific searching: You can also search a particular country's perspective on an important issue. Google's advanced search options lets you search over sources from a specific country.

Source-specific searching: We always try to show multiple perspectives on an issue, but what if, for instance, you want to find an article you saw a few days ago on CNN? Our advanced search option lets you restrict your search to specific news sources.
